Good growth

It has been encouraging to see so many clients recognising the advantages of getting their contractor to deliver higher value by managing more risk, interfacing with stakeholders and being an integral part of scope development and the design process.

This is quite some change from the "design, choose a contractor then build" days of the past.  And it comes at a time when there is substantial growth in the transport, water and energy sectors - which we have matched by employing more people and thus being able to offer a wider range of services.

Of course the introduction of collaborative style contracts puts a much higher onus on us to be good to deal with, good to work for and good to own, with projects getting bigger, our organisation being far larger and our forward workload extending further into the future.

We are in good heart in challenging times.

The Fletcher Construction Company has taken on mega-projects of challenging proportions and in demanding locations, for more than 50 years. Its track-record has given it pride of place among local infrastructure contractors.

The Engineering division has built up unrivalled expertise in civil, marine and industrial engineering. Fletcher is the national contractor of choice for overseas specialists seeking to enter into joint ventures. It offers new graduates a structured entry to the industry that boosts their career prospects.

Such collaborative management coupled with an emphasis on developing an innovative mind set, the maintenance of dependable resources and a corporate commitment to certainty of delivery will drive the division's ability to continue to claim pride of place.

Brian Perry Civil

Brian Perry Civil is a civil engineering specialist with the people, management and resources to deliver demanding projects. It undertakes environmental and marine works, civil structures, bridges, foundations and pipelines.

Fletcher acquired Brian Perry Civil in 1986 to augment its major project expertise. The specialist piling-contractor had a long history of successful contracts, which it expanded into pipelines and marine work. Now integrated into the Fletcher business, it also operates as a subcontractor to other main contractors.

As a business unit with its own unique sub-culture established over 50 years, it acts as a hot-house to develop the careers of young engineers for the wider company.

PipeWorks

PipeWorks is a specialist contractor with the capability and resources to upgrade industrial and utility pipelines using state of the art technology.

PipeWorks specialises in Cured in Place Pipe (CIPP) rehabilitation of existing pipelines, a process involving no excavation or environmental impact and minimal site disturbance. The system is fast and more attractive in terms of both cost and communities than pipe replacement.  PipeWorks now offers state-of-the-art trenchless pipeline installations with the new Vermeer Navigator D100 x 120 Series II Horizontal Directional Drill.

Links with The Fletcher Construction Company and Brian Perry Civil enable PipeWorks to deliver international trenchless technology combined with broader engineering and project management expertise, backed by strong local knowledge, proven experience and significant resource.

Piletech

Design, supply and installation with solid technical backup.

Piletech specialises in the design, manufacture, and installation of steel screw-in piles and anchors - a proven alternative for use in commercial, industrial and infrastructure construction projects.

Terrasheet light-weight sheet piling is another product offered by Piletech - a business with a reputation as an industry expert at sustained static-load testing of piles.

Piletech is well-resourced with the right gear and sound engineering expertise. It is the leader in screw-in pile technology in New Zealand.

Seovic NZ

Acquired as a separate business unit by Fletcher in 2007, Seovic NZ – a subsidiary of Seovic Civil Engineering in Australia – operates two specialised slip-forming machines servicing a niche engineering market for the construction of concrete walls and traffic barriers.

Its highly technical process offers formed road barriers and walls in one continuous stream using specially designed concrete mix. This process is much faster and more efficient than the traditional cast in-situ or pre-casting off-site processes.
