Awards

Jun 09, 2017

Delighted to announce that Fletcher took out five awards at the recent Commercial Project Awards!
The annual awards set the benchmark for commercial construction in New Zealand and include Gold, Silver and Bronze awards as well as National Category wins and a Supreme Award.
At this year’s awards Fletcher Construction won two Gold awards, one Silver and one Bronze award. In addition Construction was awarded a special Platinum award in recognition of winning five national awards.
Construction Chief Executive Michele Kernahan says the awards are valued by contractors, their commercial construction partners and clients.
"The impressive record of five awards at this year's Commercial Project Awards is an important recognition of our commitment to quality and delivering for clients. It was especially pleasing to see we achieved excellence in the categories of Civic and Educational buildings for the 2017 awards and the Platinum award recognises our previous wins in Commercial and Value categories."

Gold Award (Heritage and Restoration Category)
The Arts Centre of Christchurch
After the Arts Centre sustained major earthquake damage, individual pieces of stone and timber were categorised, removed from the site, restored, and ultimately returned to their original positions. A significant piece of Canterbury's history has now been brought back to life in a form which is overwhelmingly loyal to the original.

Gold Award (Education Category)
University of Waikato Law/Management Building
This extension to the Management School Faculty Building adds functional space and creates an iconic gateway to the existing campus grounds. The building is comprised of three separate structures, linked by expansion joints, and positioned to encourage the circulation of people outside.

Silver Award (Civic Category)
Te Hapua Halswell Centre
This multipurpose complex is the new centrepiece of the Halswell Community. The 3000m2 building contains a library, café, hall, lounge, business suite, meeting rooms and council. Outside, the lap pool and hydroslide have been upgraded along with a new BBQ area and landscaping.

Bronze Award (Civic Category)
Te Awamutu Library
As the first phase of a community cultural and recreational hub, the new Te Awamutu library is designed to stand out and set a benchmark for future development. It is a strong, simple and modern building, based on an industrial design language that is decoratively enhanced by an external rectilinear metal filigree.
