Structure and Leadership Changes

General News

Mar 29, 2018

Fletcher Construction will split out its specialist civil engineering businesses to create a new business unit from the start of the financial year in July 2018.

The move to separate Brian Perry Civil, Piletech, PipeWorks and Seovic from the broader Infrastructure business is aimed at giving our brand businesses a bigger profile as they seek to secure and then successfully deliver a wide array of infrastructure projects. Their current focus is on projects in the transport and utilities markets.

Alongside this change key leadership appointments have been made:

Harry Alderson has been appointed General Manager, Specialist Brands and takes up his new position officially from 2 April, 2018.

Construction Chief Executive Michele Kernahan says Harry has excelled in his current role as National Operations Manager for Higgins. “Harry has proven expertise, the experience and management qualities to grow our new business unit,” she said.

He is a natural leader, has a deep understanding of the markets in which we operate and is widely respected externally and within the business.

Tommy Parker has been appointed General Manager, Infrastructure after an impressive 14 year career with the New Zealand Transport Agency and its predecessor Transit New Zealand.
Currently General Manager of Transport System Design and Delivery with the Transport Agency, Tommy will join Fletcher from 23 April 2018.

Tommy has demonstrated real leadership qualities as well as technical abilities that are well respected across the industry and we are delighted that he’ll be joining us.

At the Transport Agency he brought together regional teams to create a national focus, and worked on significant projects including the Victoria Park Tunnel and the Waterview Connection. He also led major initiatives including the Roads of National Significance and a new approach to maintenance contracts.

About our Infrastructure business unit

Both our Infrastructure and specialist brands teams are helping to build a better New Zealand by enhancing and extending transport infrastructure, remediating the environment and improving the full range of utilities including energy and the three waters: potable water, stormwater and wastewater.
