Nov 10, 2016
Congratulations to all our winners at the second annual Hays NAWIC Excellence Awards! Run by the National Association of Women in Construction, these awards celebrate the outstanding achievements women are making in New Zealand’s construction industry.
Fletcher women did exceptionally well in 2016, with awards across all categories.
Outstanding leadership and a commitment to putting people first saw Lynne Makepeace named winner of the Professional Woman of the Year Award (Construction Category).
Recognised as an “incredibly effective leader”, Lynne leads a team of 180 to ensure that the northern section of the $1.4B Waterview Connection project is completed on time, on budget and with zero harm to the team. Her high standards and outstanding leadership skills inspired the judging team.
Gemma Collins was named joint winner of the Outstanding Achievement in Design Award. Gemma, who manages a team of 35 building services engineers, is credited with playing a lead role in securing the Commercial Bay contract. The Auckland tower will be the tallest office building in New Zealand when completed.
Judges praised Gemma’s use of sustainable design solutions and her ongoing leadership in engineering throughout her 25-year career.
The Excellence in Construction Administration Award went to Carolyn Pitman. Described as the “go to guru” for policies and processes, Carolyn successfully deals with a wide range of subcontractors and plays a pivotal role in her team.
