Coca-Cola Distribution Centre

  • Division: Building
  • Location: Auckland
  • Started: January 2005
  • Cost: $27.3 million
  • Client: Coca-Cola Amatil (NZ) Ltd
  • Completed: June 2007

The first clad-rack structure and first automated handling facility of its kind in New Zealand at the time of construction, the enormous distribution centre houses a network of hi-tech computer-controlled conveyors, lifts, and cranes that transport drinks from the production line to storage racks and transport loading areas.

During construction a concrete slab of 125m x 65m (the largest Fletcher has lain in many years) was poured. At 430mm thick and with 2000 tons of reinforcement in each of the four pours, meticulous quality control saw the slab being completed within the 15mm tolerance allowance.
