  • Division: Interiors
  • Location: Wellington
  • Started: October 2006
  • Cost: $1.3 million
  • Client: Wareham Cameron & Co
  • Completed: March 2007

Refit of levels 10 and 11 of Optimation House in Wellington to accommodate Maritime New Zealand’s head office.

A predominantly open plan office space with seating capacity for some 93 people, the project involved demolition, carpentry, mechanical, electrical, suspended ceilings excluding feature ceilings, and floor coverings.

The reception area on level 10 had specialist finishes on rebated panels and back painted glass on a number of walls. Other features include a stone carpet which gives the impression of natural pebbles, and office/meeting room partition walls created by laying glass over the joinery.

A secure room was constructed using heavy duty steel track bolted at one metre centres, heavy duty steel studs welded to the bottom and top track, and fitting two layers of 9mm ply with mild steel welded mesh between to the outside of the wall which was then earthed. One layer of 13mm Gib was then fitted to each side of the wall with acoustic blanket in the cavity. Security walls went slab to slab.
