BNZ Piling – Queen Street

  • Division: Engineering
  • Location: Auckland
  • Started: January 2007
  • Cost: $4.7 million
  • Client: Bank of New Zealand
  • Completed: September 2007

Working directly behind the façade of the historical Jean Batten Place building, Brian Perry Civil placed 266 secant piles (750mm diameter x 19m deep).

An unchartered 1.8m wide solid basalt wall 4 to 6m deep was discovered along the line of the retention piles which meant 148 of the 265 secant piles had to be cored through the wall.

As part of the ‘top down’ construction, Brian Perry Civil also placed 10 steel columns plunged into 6m piles and constructed four floors below the drilling platform.
