Kumutoto Public Spaces, Site 7

  • Division: Engineering
  • Location: Wellington
  • Started: January 2007
  • Cost: $6 million
  • Client: Wellington Waterfront
  • Completed: September 2007

Brian Perry Civil constructed the Public Space which surrounds and complements the Fletcher-built Meridian Energy building at Site 7, Kumutoto.

There are three distinct public open spaces, each displaying a mix of trees, low level planting, paved areas, and attractive hardwood seating.  Brian Perry Civil continued the environmental initiatives implemented by Fletcher during construction of the Meridian Energy building by recycling as much of the construction material and waste as possible. Other ‘green’ issues included protecting the marine environment by surrounding all marine works with a silt curtain, which proved to be very successful in controlling waterborne sediments created during the changes to the foreshore.
