180 Molesworth Street

  • Division: Interiors
  • Location: Wellington
  • Started: August 2007
  • Cost: $6.1 million
  • Client: Multiplex Capital
  • Completed: Under Construction

Complete refurbishment of six floors and replacement of 480 windows.

The office space refurbishment also includes a new entrance lobby with wind-stop doors, lift refurbishments, 32 new bathrooms, installation of a continuous handrail running down 16 floors of the stairwell, as well as a stairwell air compression station which acts to keep smoke out of the stairwell in the event of a fire.

To replace all 480 windows spreading around the four faces of the building (but excluding the corner curtain walls), 'needles' have been installed on the roof which hang over the side of the building. A flexi-deck stage will then be attached to the needles providing a platform from which the windows can be replaced. Disruption to tenants will be minimised by the use of temporary isolation panels.
