Hutt Hospital Project

Redevelopment of the Hutt Valley Hospital consisting of three major elements, new emergency department and theatre, new landscaping, car parking and  entries as well as refurbishment of the existing ED building whilst partially live. Work will be completed in four stages and stretched over 28 months. 

With this project located in the centre of a residential area, the Fletcher team have come prepared to manage and assist the Hutt Valley District Health Board in delivering this new build, with the least of impact on neighbours and businesses close, as well as careful consideration towards the environment. A lot of focus will be put on ‘stakeholder’ management, including attending Neighbourhood meetings, encouraging good communication and offering a friendly approach to matters should they arise.


The re-development project includes:
A new Emergency Department with the number of cubicles extended from 14 to 35
A 16 bed acute admission and planning unit next to the Emergency Department
The number of operating theatres extended from four to six (with provision to extend to eight) plus CSSD (Central Sterile Supply Department)
Increased space for pre and post operative care
New endoscopy and day medical unit
A new intensive care unit
A new mortuary
