Commercial Bay

Precinct Properties Commercial Bay project will transform Auckland’s CBD and waterfront – bringing together world class commercial space, public transport, international quality retail, public spaces and hospitality environments, as well as eye-catching urban design in a single location on Auckland’s waterfront.

At the heart of Commercial Bay is a striking 39-level tower on the former site of the Downtown mall at the foot of Queen Street. The tower’s foundations will be dug concurrently with the beginning of the tunnels for Auckland Transport’s City Rail Link, which will link Britomart and the city centre with the existing western line near Mt Eden.

At the base of the tower sits a three level retail precinct unlike anything Auckland has seen before. The traditional closed in “mall” design will be replaced with a collection of buildings that open outward – creating the laneways for which Melbourne is renowned.

The laneway design will redefine retail in Auckland, with global flagship brands, diverse food and beverage and the highest concentration of quality retailers in one central, easily accessible location. This will be an inspiring place to relax, meet, work and shop. The rooftop bars and restaurants will provide exciting new hospitality experiences while maximising the stunning views over the Waitemata. Urban design features will create stronger connections between Queen Street and the waterfront.
