Sameer Bakshi

Renewals Manager

Sameer Bakshi is the Renewals Manager and a key member of the East Waikato Network Outcomes Contract Team in Morrinsville. Known as the "team tether," Sameer collaborates with NZ Transport Agency, Beca, subcontractor teams, and Higgins teams to oversee the annual renewals programme for the local state highway network.

Starting his career as a Site Engineer at Higgins Palmerston North, Sameer advanced to Surfacing Engineer and Surfacing Manager. In 2020, he moved to Waikato to join the Waikato Expressway as the Asphalt Delivery Manager. Near the completion of this major project, he was offered the role of Renewals Manager in 2022.

"I was fortunate to have excellent mentors at Higgins, including Ben Buttimore, who was very willing to help me settle into my new role, offering mentorship along with technical and leadership training as needed," Sameer shares.

Sameer's collaborative mindset was instrumental in implementing full road closures at the SH29 Kaimai Ranges asphalt renewals site. This approach significantly reduced the program duration and enhanced staff safety, earning recognition from the 2024 CCNZ Waikato Project Award.

Adam Plimmer knows how to make an entrance. When he arrived in New Zealand from his native UK, he didn't just fly here.

Instead, he and his Kiwi girlfriend (now wife) drove as far as they could in his 1988 Land Rover. It was a fun way to travel, and it also showed his new colleagues at Hamilton's Brian Perry Civil that he was ready for a Kiwi way of life.
