We have been an integral part of the development and modernisation of the South Pacific since we undertook our first overseas contract in Apia in 1946. Fletcher is now permanently based in Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Samoa and American Samoa, Tonga, Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands.
Prior to his appointment as General Manager Operations, Christian was Fletcher South Pacific’s Financial Controller for in excess of 20 years. Over his 30+ years with the business he has developed a strong commercial acumen and gained an in-depth and well rounded knowledge of the South Pacific region, our market, our clients and our culture.
Our first contract in Fiji was a microbrewery for South Seas Brewing Company at Lautoka in 1971. Since then we’ve delivered a range of major infrastructure and building projects in the region including Fiji Parliament Buildings, Sheraton Villas, Lautoka Wharf Upgrade, Denarau Beach Resort, Port Denarau Retail Centre, US Embassy Suva, Rewa Bridge and Momi Bay Resort.
A contract to supply and erect 342 houses at Panguana and Arawan, Bougainville kicked off our operations in Papua New Guinea. Since establishing a permanent office in 1984, we’ve delivered a range of significant building & infrastructure projects in the region, including the Sir John Guise Stadium and Taurama Aquatic Centre, Grand Papua Apartments & Hotels, National Parliament Haus and Jacksons International Airport
Our first overseas contract was a modest bridge. This was closely followed by a £68,000 store for Morris Hedstrom in Apia, Western Samoa. Since establishing a permanent office in Samoa 1987, we have delivered such significant projects as:
• Restoration of Vailima – the residence of Robert Louis Stevenson
• Aggie Grey’s Hotel restoration and later an extended resort
• Ministry of Sports Education and Culture
Materials supply contracts in 1979 began our association with the Solomon Islands. Since then we’ve delivered such significant projects as: Provincial Secondary Schools, Anthony Saru Building and Auki Prison.

The British Base Hospital contract in Port Vila in 1973 established Fletcher in Vanuatu with a range of commercial, hotel, education and expatriate housing contracts following.

New Zealand High Commission work in the early 1980’s was the starting point for Fletcher in Tonga. Since then we have delivered a range of major civic and commercial projects in the region, including the National Reserve Bank of Tonga Headquarters, NZ Chancery, Cyclone Resistant housing, Fisheries Wharf & Harbour Infrastructure, Fua’amotu airport and Tongatapu road improvement

A contract to extend Pago Pago’s international airport building in 1979 began our involvement in American Samoa. Since then we’ve delivered a range of major projects including the American Samoa Government Building, Centennial Building and fuel tanks and infrastructure.
