Successful Eastern Busway lane switch

The Eastern Busway project team carried out a lane switch during the Easter weekend to create space to build the busway from Pakūranga to Tī Rākau Bridge near Burswood. The work was finished ahead of schedule and marks a milestone for the project, which is now halfway to being completed.
Project Director Matt Zame says the Westbound Switch of Ti Rakau Drive is one of EBA’s most significant project milestones and it has been more than three years in the making, considering the journey through consenting, property acquisition, detailed design and construction. "The project team pulled out all the stops in the last couple of months to hit the Easter date in the face of several challenges including ex-cyclone Tan. This is a great example of teamwork and operating with focus on the big picture to deliver safely and to outstanding quality. The compliments from the community and customer have been excellent."
Tī Rākau Drive has two vehicle lanes in each direction, and pedestrians and cyclists now have safer, more convenient travel options. Some intersections are wider than they were before.
