Anthony Godetz
Maintenance Operations ManagerBack in 2006, Anthony Godetz was introduced to Higgins during a high school careers day. The day included a tour of the Higgins office, lab, asphalt plant, and concrete plant. Anthony remembers thinking, “This is it. The big machines, the energy – it all clicked. I wasn’t thriving academically because I hadn’t yet found my path. That day, I found it.”
In 2007, thanks to a friend and a timely opportunity for a job interview with Higgins Palmerston North, Anthony began his journey with the company as a labourer-operator, rotating through sealing, asphalt, and roading construction. “I had the passion to get on the machines. I used lunch breaks and after hours to learn how to operate them. I was determined to grow my skills and knowledge of the business.”
Anthony’s hard work paid off – he was soon promoted to construction foreman. He later joined the Christchurch rebuild and several projects in the South Island, taking on the roles of pavement foreman and roading network inspector. He’s now Southern Maintenance Operations Manager at Higgins Christchurch.
Each role brought new challenges and growth, he says. “The journey has been challenging but fulfilling, and I have enjoyed every moment of it. Higgins has backed me every step of the way. I’m grateful and excited for what’s ahead.”
