Sunil Tandukar
Sealing ManagerWe really invest in our team’s development – and that shows in the varied careers people have in Higgins.
A great example is Sunil Tandukar, who has steadily progressed through various roles since joining the business in 2021. He’s gone from quality assurance technician to site engineer, then sealing engineer, and now Higgins Auckland Sealing Manager. Sunil credits Higgins’ learning and development opportunities for his growth. He has completed multiple training courses and embraced opportunities to lead and innovate.
Sunil’s team plays a key role in delivering major infrastructure projects, specialising in chip sealing and bitumen work. “I love this role because I know the work we do makes roads safer and more accessible. I’m fortunate to have managers and colleagues who truly support me.”
Sunil meets challenges head-on. “We’re a diverse team, and communication styles can vary. I bring everyone together for open discussions, making sure every voice is heard and respected. That’s how we build trust and move forward.”
He is also passionate about inspiring the next generation to explore careers in construction and roading. “Offering internships is key to sparking young people’s interest to join the industry. Through mentorship and hands-on experience, they’ll find out how they can grow their careers.”
